Canada’s Young Arbitrators Need Your Help

Tuesday, November 16, 2021

In conjunction with Secretariat (an expert services and litigation consulting firm), the Young Canadian Arbitration Practitioners (YCAP) are embarking on an exciting initiative to compile, analyze and publish a report on costs awards for Canadian-seated arbitrations.

YCAP hopes you will contribute by filling out their survey by clicking below.

Reason for this project

Given the confidentiality of arbitration proceedings, it is often difficult to advise clients on how costs will be awarded in a Canadian arbitration. YCAP expects that this project will bring some insights on trends on costs awards in Canada, which they look forward to sharing with the Canadian arbitration community upon completion. However, its success will depend on your important input.

Confidentiality and anonymity

YCAP understands that confidentiality is a hallmark of arbitrations and the practice of law. They are not seeking any identifying information from any participants. All data will be collected on a confidential and anonymous basis, and aggregated for analysis and publication.

How you can contribute

In respect of each Canadian-seated arbitration you have been involved in over the last 5 years, please fill out this survey by no later than December 31, 2021.

If you have any questions, or if your firm would like to participate as a sponsor to this project, please contact Joanne Luu at Burnet Duckworth & Palmer LLP or Eric Morgan at Kushneryk Morgan LLP.

Deadline

YCAP requests that all participants complete the survey no later than December 31, 2021.
